The Brisbane Showgrounds' Operational Team consists of Event Planning, Exhibition Planning, Food and Beverage, Kitchen, Security and Technical Services. All team members have a wealth of expertise and demonstrated experience in delivering all aspects of events.
Our dedicated staff will be happy to:
- Share their local knowledge and offer contacts for contractors and services to support your event
- Assist with menu selections and recommendations
- Develop a logistics plan to ensure the smooth execution of your event
- Create detailed event documentation and event specific floorplans
- Provide supporting financial documentation to ensure budget expectations are achieved
- Liaise with key Brisbane Showgrounds personnel on your behalf
- Facilitate pre-event technical meetings with key representatives from the Brisbane Showgrounds' operational teams
Once your event is confirmed at the Brisbane Showgrounds, you will be appointed a professional Event Planner or Exhibition Planner.
Closer to your event, a detailed event order will be created capturing all facets of your event arrangements.
As your event becomes operational, a dedicated Event Floor Supervisor will be introduced. This supervisor will be your key contact for the duration of your event.
Meetings and events are most effective when they are supported by the highest level of audio visual technology. Microhire, operating as an independent contractor within the Brisbane Showgrounds, can provide a number of specialist services to help keep your audience informed and entertained.
Working seamlessly with the Brisbane Showgrounds' sales and operations teams, Microhire strives to provide clients with a trouble free solution to their technical needs. Offering not only standard, tried and tested technical packages, Microhire’s professional team can also tailor a package to suit your specific event requirements, production complexities and of course budget expectations.
Microhire is excited to offer the latest in projection, sound and lighting equipment specifically selected to suit the spaces on offer in the Brisbane Showgrounds. Their impressive inventory includes 10K and 20K Christie Digital Projectors, Nexo Production Sound System, 70 x Robe moving light fixtures, Wireless Talkback Systems and a unique Speakers Preparation Management System.
As our technical partner, Microhire offer unrivalled venue expertise and are accustomed with the Brisbane Showgrounds' function locations and unique ceiling grid system.
Staging and Dancefloor
In-house staging and dance floor are included as part of venue hire (subject to availability). Your dedicated Event Planner or Exhibition Planner will assist with suggested placement, as well as the recommended dimensions to suit your event and entertainment specifications.
The halls in the Royal International Convention Centre (Royal ICC) have been designed to tolerate international standard loads of up to 20kPa or two tonnes per square metre. If heavy loads are anticipated, please advise your Event Planner or Exhibition Planner.
A unique structural feature within the Royal ICC halls is the operable ceiling grid system. Being the first of its kind in Australia, this system offers some key features which will benefit you and your event. The 36 operable grids each feature 3 phase and 15amp power and are capable of carrying a sizeable weight load.
Able to be lowered by remote control, the system enables timely installation of technical equipment from a safe floor level work height. This allows for faster and easier hanging of banners and key event signage, therefore avoiding additional rigging equipment hire charges.
The Royal ICC offers rigging and banner services for all events, conventions and exhibitions. All rigging within the venue must be facilitated by our technical services partner, Microhire. Should you require banner rigging for your event, please complete the below Banner Rigging Request Form and submit it to your Event Planner or Exhibition Planner.
The Brisbane Showgrounds has a variety of electronic signage options which can be utilised for both directional purposes, event programs (using plain text), scrolling graphics or video footage, as well as for promotional purposes. Your dedicated Event Planner or Exhibition Planner will be pleased to provide details.
The Royal ICC is fully equipped to handle your communications needs, with top of the range technological advancements, equipment and services available for guests, delegates and exhibitors.
Free Wireless Internet Access
A free wireless service is available, providing a maximum bandwidth of 20mb/s. The actual bandwidth will be influenced by the number and density of concurrent users. Individual users are required to subscribe (free of charge) to the service via a login page, agreeing to a set of terms and conditions.
Conference and Event Package
Conference and event organisers are welcome to purchase custom wireless access, with increased bandwidth that can be configured with a unique SSID (wireless network name) and password for the duration of the event.
Conference delegates will then have the ability to access the internet quickly and easily. This is a simple and cost effective way in which organisers can add value to their event, by providing exclusive use of a wireless internet package for their delegates or for their own administration purposes.
This flexibility allows organisers to vary access charges for each day of the event, from low numbers at pre-conference through to peak conference time.
Cabled Broadband Internet Access
Our Internet Services team can assist to configure your computer with the appropriate settings to access our Broadband connection. Cabled broadband internet access includes internet access through the supplied network cable up to the nominated speed.
Telecommunications and IT Equipment Hire
The Royal ICC offers an in-house hire service to event organisers and/or exhibitors, for the connection of dedicated telephone line and/or fax lines to exhibition stands or ports through the centre.

At the Brisbane Showgrounds, we take security very seriously and strive to create a safe and secure environment for you and your guests.
The Brisbane Showgrounds has fully licenced, in-house trained security personnel who have intimate knowledge of our venues and the surrounding areas. This, coupled with security surveillance cameras, provide 24/7 security support.

The Brisbane Showgrounds' key focus is customer service, ensuring a positive and successful event outcome. Our customer relations counters are conveniently located in the upper and lower foyers providing clients and visitors with a central point for assistance.
Our friendly customer relations team welcome guests on arrival and offer a comprehensive range of services to all visitors including:
- Cloakroom facilities
- Wheelchair requirements
- Tourist information
- Public transport information
- Administrative support, for example photocopying and fax services
A fully equipped first aid room is located on the Concourse, Level 1 of the Royal ICC. Your dedicated Event Planner will be able to assist with further information should your event require a dedicated first aid officer or any risk assessments to identify the need for further first aid services.

Throughout our redevelopment process, the RNA in partnership with Lend Lease, continues to be environmentally conscious and apply Green Design Principles onsite. This includes a 95 per cent recycling program during demolition and construction, solar orientation and water capture and recycling through a Water Sensitive Urban Design system.
The Royal ICC will also sit within and form part of the Green Community for the Brisbane Showgrounds, as part of a Green Community Rating pilot program in accordance with the Green Building Council of Australia.
