Visiting the Brisbane Showgrounds

The Brisbane Showgrounds is located just 1.5km from the city’s CBD in Bowen Hills.

It’s bordered by Bowen Bridge Road, O'Connell Terrace, Brookes Street and St Paul's Terrace and is home to the state-of-the-art Royal International Convention Centre (Royal ICC), a four and a half star Rydges Hotel and vibrant King Street dining hub.

It’s also in walking distance of Fortitude Valley, which boasts some of the best boutique shopping in Brisbane along with a diverse range of entertainment options.

Public transport is easily accessible and Brisbane’s Domestic and International Airports are just a quick 15 minute taxi ride away. The Brisbane Showgrounds is in close proximity to numerous public transport options, including Bowen Hills and Fortitude Valley train stations which are only a 10 minute walk away, as well as bus access on surrounding streets. Both taxi and Uber drop off areas are accessible.

There are eight separate car parking facilities within the Brisbane Showgrounds, with a total capacity of more than 2,500 vehicles.

Parking is available on weekdays and event days (excluding public holidays) and can be paid for by cash or EFTPOS upon entry.

Welcome to Bowen Hills

Brisbane’s first permanent food truck stop has a rotating roster of food trucks offering Instaworthy eats. With a bar featuring an impressive 68 taps and a tiki cocktail menu, it's perfect for afternoon group gatherings. For those who prefer something a little more sophisticated, there’s also a gin bar called Swill.

Bavarian Beerhaus

Beerhaus is located in the revitalised Ekka Royal Snack Bar and boats a menu of American-inspired food. It also has a 40-tap line-up of international beers. Adding to the lively atmosphere, the Beerhaus has weekly games including foosball tournaments and ping pong battles.

Iconic two-hat restaurant Montrachet offers all the French favourites. Their menu includes steak frites, snails cooked in garlic butter and of course a selection of French champagne. Montrachet also has a boulangerie (bakery), offering fresh pastries and baguettes daily.

Il Verde

Il Verde is King Street’s modern Italian dining destination. Their menu features hearty pastas and delicious wood-fired pizzas, with the flavours coming from fresh and sustainable ingredients. Il Verde’s owners, Dom and Simon Barakat and Ibrahim (Bob) Haddid, boast a combined 40 years of experience in the industry.

Opening Hours: Monday to Wednesday 11am - 9pm; Thursday 11am- 9:30pm; Friday and Saturday 11am- 10pm


Six Acres Restaurant

Six Acres Restaurant offers a Queensland inspired dining experience and a regional focus on freshness and quality produce. A 'country comes to city' spirit inspires Six Acres to deliver outstanding paddock to plate experiences, with a classically simple menu showcasing the finest seasonal ingredients to ensure optimum flavour.

Opening Hours: Buffet Breakfast - Monday to Sunday; A La Carte Dinner - Tuesday to Saturday


Xin Chào

Vietnamese restaurant, Xin Chào, serves traditional Vietnamese dishes including fragrant beef and chicken pho, vermicelli noodles with tofu or pork belly and beef curry. There’s also a takeaway counter for those eating lunch on the run, with rice paper rolls that come with a range of dipping sauces on offer.

Kuhl-Cher Coffee

Coffee connoisseurs will love the freshly roasted brews at Kuhl-Cher Cafe. It's one of the only inner-city café roasteries in Brisbane, with all coffee beans roasted on site, from the finest house blends to single origins from across the globe. The café also offers an extensive breakfast and lunch menu, along with a cabinet filled with fresh sandwiches, salads and sweets.

Paddock Bar

Paddock Bar is the perfect spot to enjoy an icy cold beverage, some delicious authentic bar meals and a place to watch the sun set over the Brisbane Showgrounds. There are craft beers, hand-picked wines, signature cocktails and bar menu favourites on offer and you can enjoy it all on the terrace beneath the beautiful shade canopy of an original Showgrounds fig tree.

Fat Dumpling

Fat Dumpling offers authentic signature dumplings and home-style dishes from family recipes. It truly is a family affair, with Owner David Wang's wife Janet hand making the dumplings while his daughter, architect Ting, designed the internal fit-out.

Opening Hours: Monday to Wednesday 11:30am - 2:30pm; Thursday to Saturday 11:30am - 2:30pm, 5:30pm - 9:30pm


Sushi & Nori

Sushi & Nori serves premium sushi and Asian cuisine with a modern twist. They believe in creating food that is simple, natural and delicious. Dine in and enjoy the sushi train or grab some takeaway if you're on the go.

Hello Chicken

Hello Chicken serves delicious fried chicken from a bright yellow Kombi van. Their special recipes include Korean Chilli fried chicken, Soy and Garlic, Snow Cheese, Carbonara and Crazy Hot Chilli. Eat in or take away at this on trend street-side food van.

Super Combo

The Street Fighter themed Super Combo will not only satisfy your hunger, it will also satisfy your love of video games - what a combo! Their selection of delicious burgers are complemented by a selection of sides, alongside a unique collection of specialty sauces with a mouth-watering list of shakes also available. You can also play Street Fighter on the Super Nintendo while you wait.

The Lamb Shop

Following the popularity and success of his Broadbeach restaurant, Peter Glouftis opened The Lamb Shop on King Street. With its Greek menu inspired by memories from his childhood, The Lamb Shop serves a modern twist on traditional lamb souvlaki as well as many other Greek inspired dishes like char grilled octopus.

King Street Bakery

King Street Bakery offers a large range of pastries and a French inspired a la carte breakfast and lunch menu. The team of skilled internationally trained bakers make everything on site from scratch daily.

El Camino Cantina

Tex-Mex restaurant El Camino Cantina offers a menu featuring a fusion of Mexican and Texan cuisines including corn chips, tacos, fajitas, quesadillas, nachos and of course frozen margaritas. The restaurant has a party atmosphere with plenty of Las Vegas style neon lights and colourful sombreros.

Serving up a variety of delicious café breakfast options from eggs to hotcakes with a selection of lunch and fresh snack items on rotation in the cabinet. La Macelleria Gelateria

La Macelleria Gelateria is the brainchild of two guys from Bologna, sharing one dream: To make gelato a real experience for Brisbanites. La Macelleria Gelateria serves up authentic Italian gelato, sorbet, gelato shakes, espresso, and gelato cakes.

Disability Access

The Brisbane Showgrounds is designed to provide exceptional services and facilities to all visitors.

The Royal ICC is wheelchair accessible on both levels and designated car parking spaces are located on ground level. Wheelchairs are also available from the Customer Relations team.

Individual accessibility restrooms are located on both the upper and lower levels of the Royal ICC and there is one ambulant toilet within each bathroom location.


Public Transport 


The main taxi companies operating in Brisbane are Black and White Cabs (ph. 13 32 22) and Yellow Cabs (ph. 13 19 24).

There are taxi zones located outside Rydges Hotel and The George Bar and Bistro on King Street.



Rideshare apps, such as Uber and GoCatch, enable you to connect with a ride. The driver will pick you up from your selected location and payment is cashless.


Bowen Hills and Fortitude Valley railway stations are less than a 10 minute walk from the Brisbane Showgrounds.

You can also choose to ride the CityGlider buses, which provide high-frequency transport from West End to Teneriffe and Ashgrove to Stones Corner, while the free City Loop bus service is perfect for exploring the CBD.
